How to host a scavenger hunt

Scavenger hunts are a fun way to bring your group of friends and family members together for team building fun. They can be conducted at your home, in the neighborhood, or out of town to allow you to explore new areas. Scavenger hunts can be conducted in numerous ways which makes them a great experience for everyone involved.

It’s all about games!

Step 1: Choose the appropriate games

Different kinds of hunts require different kinds of games. It is important to know this and determine what kind of hunt you’d like to conduct before your group starts hunting! It is a good idea to search for clues before you start a scavenger hunt.

Scavenger hunts can be done individually or in groups and are generally more enjoyable with a crowd.

Step 2: Define the goal you want to achieve. The first thing you have to choose is the type of scavenger hunting you’ll be undertaking. Are you going to do something outdoors? Do you have certain clues hidden in the area? What will the duration be? How many participants can you accommodate? These are important questions you should ask prior to when you begin.

Step 3: Set the ground rules

Before starting, make sure everyone is aware of rules. This will help avoid disagreements or arguments during the contest. You may want to consider how many items each person or team could collect, what happens when someone finds something isn’t recognized as electronic devices are allowed.

Step 4: Create the list of items

It’s time to prepare your list of items that will be part of the scavenger hunting. This can be anything that is from a specific type of item to a list of terms. If you’re doing an activity that is themed, make sure all items on your list relate to the theme.

Step 5: Distinguish the items

When you’ve got your list, it’s time to begin hiding the items. Be sure to place them in various places to ensure that teams have to search all over to find them. If you want to make it more difficult it is possible to hide objects outside of the designated area.

Step 6: Begin the game

When everything is ready Now it’s time to start the scavenger hunt. Everyone needs to have a list and everyone must follow the steps for each find. It’s not a surprise that the person who discovers an item first must announce the item they have found so that everyone is able to keep track.

Step 7: Winner and prizes

No matter how silly or serious the contest, the winner must be awarded the prize. You could even have multiple winners from different categories to make the contest more intense! There are many variants of scavenger hunts, which make them an exciting event for all participants.
